D1 Bid for Water Resource Allocation in the Pearl River Delta: Heavy Industry Pipe Jacking Machine Successfully Launched

The starting and ending mileage of the Dongguan Branch Pipeline Jacking Project in the D1 section of the Pearl River Delta Water Resources Allocation Project is DG1+407~DG3+380, which includes 5 jacking sections and a total of 6 working wells. The total length of the section is 1973 meters (including the length of the working well), and the top soil coverage range of the jacking section is 6.8-24 meters.

Before the lifting operation of the pipe jacking machine, the project department organizes construction personnel to conduct on-site safety and technical briefing, so that the on-site operators understand the equipment structure, performance, and principle. They also require on-site personnel to hold a pre shift meeting and handover meeting, carefully explain the construction content, and remind frontline operators of precautions and technical specifications.

 On the afternoon of August 14th, an emergency drill for water and sand gushing at the beginning of the pipe jacking machine was organized. By simulating the actual on-site situation, it was ensured that the pipe jacking machine was not damaged by the danger of water and sand gushing during the starting process, avoiding casualties and property losses. The project department will develop a reasonable and effective drill plan based on the actual situation on site, conduct desktop drills in advance, improve the rescue and self-protection awareness of on-site operators, promote and implement the safety education significance of this emergency drill, and prepare for the launch of the pipe jacking machine.

Invite the owner, supervisor, design, and leadership team to evaluate and accept the launch of the pipe jacking machine. All conditions meet the launch standards, and the joint acceptance team signs for approval, laying a more rigorous foundation for the launch of the pipe jacking machine.

At the construction site of the D1 working well, a pipe jacking machine with a diameter of 3 meters, a length of about 6.2 meters, and a total weight of 85 tons was quietly parked 15 meters underground, ready to be deployed.

The excavation of the first section of the pipe jacking project in the Pearl River Delta is the first excavation section of the 5 pipe jacking sections of the Dongguan Branch Main Line, located in Xiniupi Village, Dalang Town, Dongguan City. The section is 385 meters long and is planned to be completed in 60 days. During the excavation process, it passes through residential areas with dense surface buildings and complex pipelines laid along the way. The interval is mostly composed of completely weathered granite and composite layers of upper soft and lower hard, and strong weathering. It is difficult to select reasonable jacking parameters during the construction process.
